At The AFCN Learning Institute, nurses across Canada can access a comprehensive and in-depth Advanced Foot Care Nurse Course that combines interactive virtual theory with hands-on clinical placement — creating a well-rounded program designed to develop both knowledge and practical skills.
As an AFCN-approved clinical partner and Advanced Foot Care Nurse Educator, I provide the hands-on portion of the course in Ottawa, Ontario, giving participants the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a real clinical environment.
Through one-on-one clinical training at my independent foot care practice at Becky & Co. Medical Foot Care, nurses gain practical experience, refine their technique, and build confidence under guidance in a supportive setting.
A Program Founded on National Standards
The AFCN Learning Institute works closely with the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN) — the national organization that defines excellence in advanced nursing foot care practice.
CAFCN’s National Competency Framework (2017, revised 2025) sets the gold standard for advanced foot care nurse training in Canada. These competencies ensure nurses gain the knowledge, clinical judgment, and ethical foundation to practice safe, evidence-based foot care independently and within their professional scope.

As a clinical partner and educator, I provide the hands-on clinical training portion of this national program in Ottawa, helping nurses apply the theory they’ve learned in a real clinical environment.
Upon successful completion of both the online theory (through AFCN) and the in-person clinical placement (with an AFCN-approved partner), participants receive a Certificate of Completion that complies with CAFCN National Competencies — demonstrating that their education meets recognized national standards for advanced foot care nursing in Canada.

🩵 Online Learning: The virtual theory portion is delivered through the AFCN Learning Institute’s interactive online platform, allowing nurses to complete coursework at their own pace from anywhere in Canada.
🩵 Hands-On Clinical Training (Ottawa): When you’re ready for your clinical placement, you’ll complete three full days of one-on-one training with me, Becky, an experienced RN and Advanced Foot Care Nurse Educator.
Your 3-day clinical placement includes:
Direct client care each day — hands-on from start to finish
Use of all professional tools, PPE, and instruments provided during training
A temporary take-home practice kit for the duration of your placement
Personalized feedback, coaching, and individualized instruction in a real clinical environment
This one-on-one experience ensures you leave feeling confident, competent, and ready to provide safe, high-quality foot care within your community.
